Be A Blessing And Light Shiner For Others By Remembering The “Big Four”

1Thessalonians 2:10-13,19,20

You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers; just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. And for this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received from us the word of God's message, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe. For who is our hope or joy or crown of exultation? Is it not even you, for you are our glory and joy.

Proverbs 11:27
He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, But he who searches after evil, it will come to him.

There are so many “things” that God will do for you if you just ask, such as keeping you from harm, or pointing you in the right direction when you have decisions to make.  But the flip side of that coin is how God wants you to act, no matter where you are and whom you’re with.  God wants you to walk “uprightly and blamelessly” which is “Bible-speak” for behaving in a way that others can’t say anything “bad” about you because your light is shining.  When people see you, they should know that there is something different about you because of what you say and do and most importantly the way that you treat them. If you keep four specific words, which we’ll refer to as “The Big Four,” in the front of your mind, you will never fail to be a light-shiner and a blessing to others.  The “Big Four” are “hope, joy, glory and crown.” All through your day ask yourself, “Am I bringing joy and hope to others?  If so, they you are bringing “glory” to God. That brings us to the final word, which is “crown.”  God says that an excellent wife is the crown of her husband (Proverbs 12:4), and that you are supposed to be the “crown of exultation.” That’s sort of like being the King or Queen of joy and encouragement.  When you think of yourself with a crown on your head, you can’t help but walk straighter and be kinder. So, whether you are at a job, in a relationship, or simply walking down the street, remember the Big Four: hope, joy, glory and crown.   And as you strive to be that shining example of all that is good by speaking words of joy and hope to others, that same joy and hope will come right back to you, which was part of God’s plan all along.
