Berkeley Deputy in Wreck

Collision sends two to the hospital.

A wreck Monday night involving a Berkeley County Deputy has sent two to the hospital, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Shawn O'Neal was in his BCSD 2011 Ford patrol car heading south on U.S. 17-A at 10:22 p.m. Cynthia L. Segar, 51, of Moncks Corner, was traveling north on the highway when she attempted to turn left onto California Avenue and collided with O'Neal's car.

Segar and a passenger, 29-year-old Antonio Segere, were transported to an area hospital, according to Cpl. Bob Beres with the Highway Patrol.

After the collision, O'Neal ran off the roadway and struck a power pole. He did not have injuries requiring transport to the hospital.

The accident is under investigation.
