Blotter: Football Season Comes Early
The following information was supplied by the City of Goose Creek Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Football Season Comes Early
On Thursday, June 16, a woman told police that her son had been assaulted during a football game after a rough tackle. According to the police report, the boy said he had been put in a headlock and was hit repeatedly. The mother said her son was held down while other kids hit him in the face.
In an unrelated incident, on Sunday, June 19, a teenager told police that he was the victim of another football-related assault. The boy said he was tossing a football in the roadway when a passing woman got hit in the foot by a stray throw. Her husband came outside and an argument ensued, with the man shoving the boy. The boy’s father later arrived on the scene and asked that the man be charged with assault.

No Receipt, Big Problem
The manager at the St. James Avenue Publix contacted police on Thursday, June 16, regarding a disorderly customer. Officers arrived to find the customer upset about getting a gift card in exchange for a returned item. He couldn’t get cash because he didn’t have a receipt. The manager told police that the suspect had become loud and cursed, and that he’d also thrown a cantaloupe on the ground, smashing it. The manager wanted the man escorted from the store and placed on trespass notice.

Once outside, the suspect refused to sign the trespass notice without speaking to his attorney. He then allegedly looked at the officer and asked, “How many rounds do you got?” Asked what he said, the man repeated the question. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and threatening the life of a public official, according to the report.
Finished Early
On Friday, June 17, a Goose Creek officer was responding to a call on St. James Avenue regarding a possibly intoxicated driver. Pulling up behind the suspect’s car in a parking lot, the officer noticed the man was unaware the patrol vehicle was there and attempting to back up his car. The officer turned on his siren and lights, which got the suspect’s attention.
Walking up to the car, the officer asked for the man’s ID, which he provided, but not before dropping it twice. The man allegedly said he’d had two beers to drink. Struggling through the first few rounds in the roadside sobriety test, the suspect refused to complete the test, according to the report.
“You guys got me,” he repeatedly told the officer, while voluntarily putting his arms into the position to be handcuffed. On the way to the detention center for processing, the suspect allegedly told the officer that he should have just waked home. He was charged with driving under the influence.
