Blotter: Grinch Cuts Christmas Lights

A falling traffic light damages a truck.

It's that time of year when your neighbors turn their front yards into a circus of lights and Christmas characters.

But an unknown perpetrator apparently isn't in the Christmas spirit. A Hayden Hill resident contacted police on Dec. 5 to report that someone had tampered with his Christmas lights.

The man said that he came home expecting to see his lights burning bright. Instead, he found that someone had cut the electrical cord on his two strings of bulbs, at an estimated cost of $35.

Traffic Light Falls, Damages Truck

In unrelated light malfunctioning news, a Moncks Corner man was driving down St. James Avenue in the afternoon on Dec. 7. As he was about to pas Central Avenue, a traffic light fell to the ground in front of his pickup.

The man told police that it was too late for him to avoid the light and he hit it, causing at least $400 in damage to the bumper and scratches on the front end of his truck.
