Management Firm Says $60,000 Embezzled
A local management company said it was investigating two former employees who may have embezzled $60,000 from the company. The two workers served as property managers at a local apartment community and may have given 120 residents a "resident referral" incentive that neither were authorized to provide. The department is investigating the case, but no charges have been issued.

Smart Decision Leads to iPod Theft
A Summerville resident did the right thing last weekend … and it cost him his iPod. The man told police that he was partying at a friends apartment on Sept. 17 when he got too drunk and the friend took his keys away.

Someone else got him home, and he called his friend the next day and asked that he put the keys in an inconspicuous place near the vehicle so that he could pick up later. The man arrived to find his car door unlocked and the keys in the floorboard. And his iPod was missing from the center console.
Hard-to-Find Hole Finds a Foot
On Sept. 13, officers responded to Westminster Heights for a reported knee injury. A man told officers that he'd stepped into a hole by an electrical box on his way to Walmart.
Officers noted it was a civil mater, but noted that the hole was hiker/biker trail and that the man would have had to "turn at the front of the box, walk along the side of the box to the rear and step into the hole," according to the initial report. At this point, the officer noted, the man would actually be heading away from the Walmart.
