Blotter: No Shirt, Big Problem

Also cardio training for the beer run and that wasn't a bomb at Walmart.

No Shirt, Big Problem

Goose Creek didn’t get too rowdy during the Fourth of July weekend, but one College Park pub had to call the police to handle some guys who got bent out of shape about having to put their shirts on. At 3:45 p.m. on Monday, police responded to reports of a disturbance at Two Keys Tavern at Crowfield Plaza. Witnesses told police the men became belligerent and allegedly made threats that they would come back and “shoot up the place.” When the cook tried to escort the men out, a scuffle began between one of the suspects and another patron trying to help the cook. One of the suspects kicked over a sandwich board and another spit in the pub manager’s face. All three men were charged with disorderly conduct and two were charged with third degree assault and battery.

A Sprint, Not a Marathon

Just before midnight on June 29, a gas station attendant told police that a man walked into the Sunoco at 301 N. Goose Creek Blvd. dressed in black with a black hat. The man looked similar to a shoplifter in a few recent cases in the area, the attendant said. The suspect allegedly went to the back of the store, grabbed two 18-packs of Bud Light and headed for the door. But, the employee told police, “before reaching the counter, the suspect took several deep breaths before running out the front door.” You know, a little exercise outside of the law-breaking beer run might help with the breathing. The suspect was last seen getting into a white Toyota Camry.

Not The Bomb

On June 27, at 5:32 p.m., police cordoned off the Walmart on St. James Avenue because of a potential bomb. A witness noted a briefcase sitting unattended by a recycle barrel. The Charleston County Bomb Squad responded, requesting the evacuation of the that side of the Walmart and that nearby cars be moved. The Goose Creek Fire Department assisted, using fire trucks as barriers. The briefcase was empty. “Walmart returned to business as usual without incident,” according to the report. Next time you’re throwing out a briefcase, put it deep in a trash can. Thanks.
