Witness Successfully Tails Hit and Run Suspect

A woman reported a hit-and-run at the corner of Highway 176 and Devon Forest Boulevard late on Sept. 10. The victim said that she initially got out of the car and asked the suspect if she was injured. The suspect said no, but then fled the scene before police arrived.

Another driver who had witnessed the accident followed the suspect and was able to get her to pull over. He then convinced her to give him the keys to the car and he contacted police.

Charged with hit-and-run and driving under the influence, the suspect told police that she was a bartender and that she'd had several beers at work. She said that she did stop initially for the accident, but that the victim told her that she could leave.

Officers were called to Kolb Court regarding a suspicious vehicle at around 3 p.m. Sept. 10, where they found an Oldsmobile parked in the road near a closed community park. Entering the park, police found four people sitting on the playground.

One woman began to run from the scene, but she stopped in the nearby woods to hide. Not realizing the officer could still see her, she allegedly pulled a cooking dish out from underneath the front of her shirt.

She initially gave police the wrong name, later claiming that she had been confused about her name. She also said she found the cooking dish. She said she didn't know what the white powdery substance that was found on the dish, but she did say she scrapped off some of the powder to "examine" it, according to police.

All four suspects were charged with manufacturing/trafficking methamphetamines, marijuana possession and trespassing on private property
