He heals the brokenhearted, And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.
What a great deal God is! He knows every grain of sand and every star in the sky. And most especially He knows you! God knows when you are feeling broken hearted and He promises to “bind up your wounds.” He knows when you feel uncertain and He promises to “direct your paths,” which means God’s going to show you the way that you should go. And then God gives you specific these strategies, which will allow you to tap into all that He has for you. The first strategy is to trust God to do what He says He is going to do, even if things look uncertain, right at this moment. Keep repeating to yourself God’s powerful promise: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3,5,6). As you think about and actually repeat helpful scripture verses, you will become “like a tree firmly planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season” (Psalm 1:3). God’s healing words and promises will “feed” your spirit, so that you won’t “wither.” As you keep your spirit “fed” nourished on God’s words you will find your emotional strength, patience, and understanding increasing so that you can produce good “fruits.” Your “fruit” is Bible-speak for all the wonderful acts of goodness, kindness and wisdom that you were created for. The final strategy is to look around at all of your answered prayers, at anything good that is happening in your life. Give God the credit and be thankful. So many times the only time a parent will hear from their child is when something is wrong and they are crying out to their parent to “fix” the problem and take their pain away. What music it would be to a parent’s ear if their child would call to share good news or acknowledge the parent’s love and care. So it is with God: He always hears the cries for help from His anguished children. Yet once the problem is solved, the tendency is just to take the good resolution for granted and think that the problem just fixed itself. Nothing alone fixes itself. Every blessing, everything good that has ever happened to you comes from God. This day, remember to “Trust and Praise.” Give your problem to God, keep repeating His promises when your heart becomes anxious and acknowledge anything good. Keep your eyes on what has worked out in your life, which are in fact your personal gifts from God, in other words: your “blessings.” This is the path to overcoming anxiety and creating peace and prosperity of your heart and soul.
