GATORS....GATORS...GATORS

Photographer captures gators...with his camera.

Some of you may already know me by reading previous blogs.  I live in West Ashley and primarily post my blog to the West Ashley Patch.  In the past year I have gone from working in a downtown office to walking the boardwalk and paths at Magnolia Plantation's Audubon Swamp.  I have also had the opportunity to travel to some of the gulf coast states that have swamps similar to ours.  I am a photographer who appreciates all that the outdoors has to offer us.

Lately I have been focusing my attention on the Audubon Swamp which has a very active gator population.  This spring I was lucky enough to get a few gator shots but one in particular has been a huge hit.  I caught a rather large gator trying to eat a yellow slider turtle.  Another big seller was a shot of a large gator in the swamps of Louisiana.  All you see is the head with the prominent green eye that stares back at you.

I show and sell my work at the Preservation Society of Charleston at 147 King Street in Charleston as well as on my web site.   I have entered my work in a few art exhibits this year.  One of my gator shots won second place at this Spring's First Federal Starlight Pops People's Choice Art Show held in Mt. Pleasant.  My 20" x 30" prints of this photo have been purchased by prominent area residents for man caves, law offices and have also been bought as gifts for Department of Natural Resources personnel who know gators.
