MARRINGTON ELEMENTARY 2nd ANNUAL WREATH LAYING CEREMONY

Marrington Elementary school held the 2nd Annual Wreathe Laying Ceremony to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom that all Americans enjoy.

In honor of Memorial Day, Marrington Elementary school held the  2nd Annual Wreathe Laying Ceremony, sponsored by  Navy Wives Club of America, MenRivPark #240.  The ceremony was held to honor of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom that all Americans enjoy.

 Five students laid a wreath on the flag pole in the front of the school.  Five white roses were placed within the wreath to represent each branch of the military.  Each of the students laying the wreathe represented an Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy family. Each child had a parent that was in one of the 5 branches of the military and participated in the ceremony.   Emily Hensley who is a student at MNE helped lay the wreathe.

Air Force – Zachary Cagle and TSgt Jon Cagle;  

Army – Callista, Carleah, Delaney, and Mikenna Farris and their father SFC Micheal Farris

 Coast Guard – Cooper and Gabriel Niles and their mother LCDR (Retired) Kathy Niles;

 Navy- Katherine and Michael McCready and their parents Mrs. Denise McCready, Michael McCready

 Marine Corps- Emily Hensley and her parents GVSGP Jeremy Hensley and SGT Bethany Hensley

The event was coordinated by Mrs. Denise McCready, whose husband, Michael McCready represented the Navy for this occasion. Members of the Navy Wives Club of America in attendance were Denise McCready, Hazel Cole, Penney Carucci, and Fawn Hersman

Marrington Elementary School is a Berkeley County Public School, Located on Joint Base Charleston/Naval Weapons Station.  It is made up predominantly of children from military families; consequently the ceremony had a special significance and poignancy.
