Patched Up!: Act of Kindness

And RSFH nurse goes the extra mile.

LA’QUANDRA GREEN, RN, ORTHOPEDICS, ROPER HOSPITAL

Earlier this year while shopping in Citadel Mall, La’Quandra witnessed a 21-year-old male patient have a seizure in the food court. La’Quandra responded without delay by going to the individual rescue. She was the only healthcare worker present and immediately noticed bystanders protecting his head while also reaching into his pocket for ID and his cell phone. La’Quandra instructed bystanders to call 911 as she called the person's mother and roommate to inform them of the events. The guy actually ended up having two seizures as they waited for paramedics to arrive. Thanks to La’Quandra's quick response, the patient was kept safe and able to receive further treatment. As a new grad, it is not surprising that she responded the way she did. She is very engaged and involved on the unit even in the short time she has been at Roper. She has also pushed herself to succeed by taking the ACLS course and enrolling in school to pursue her BSN. She is always willing to help and consistently lives our mission of healing all people with compassion, faith and excellence.
