Patched Up!: Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Named a Top 100 Hospital

Already a favorite in the Lowcountry, Thomson Reuters has recognized Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital as one of the Top 100 hospitals in the nation

Already a favorite in the Lowcountry, Thomson Reuters has recognized Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital as one of the Top 100 hospitals in the nation. No other Lowcountry hospitals were recognized in any of the other categories which included major teaching, teaching, large community, medium community and small community hospitals.

The ranking was based on 14 criteria to include by not limited to: mortality; medical complications; patient safety; average patient stay; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; post-discharge mortality; and readmission rates for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. The study has been conducted annually since 1993.

Thomson Reuters researchers evaluated nearly 3,000 short-term, acute-care, non-federal hospitals. They used public information – Medicare cost reports, Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data, core measures and patient satisfaction data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare website. Thomson Reuters also evaluated the hospitals on measures of overall organization performance, including patient care, operational efficiency, and financial stability.
