Patched Up!: Helicopter Service At Roper Berkeley

Parts of Berkeley County are a pretty good distance from downtown Charleston and expert care available at Roper Hospital. Throw in traffic on Intersate 26 and you're looking at desperate times in emergency situations

A new helicopter program at Roper Hospital -- Berkeley is chopping minutes by choppering patients, according to Dan Brown in the Berkeley Independent: 

Roper Berkeley Hospital just brought Moncks Corner a half-hour closer to downtown Charleston.

With the installation of its new helipad Roper reduced what has been a 45-minute ambulance ride to 10 to 15 minutes, critical time saved in the event of a heart attack or stroke.

The helicopter is at Roper St. Francis' primary Berkeley County facility on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
