Pregnancy numbers are booming at Roper St. Francis Healthcare Women’s Services facilities. Women’s Services staff estimates some 3,000 babies will be born in the system by year's end.
It's great timing then that Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital will host the 17th annual Pregnancy Celebration from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The free event honors, educates and pampers expecting mothers.

It’s the hospital’s first time hosting the Celebration. Attendeeds can get to the event by using either the Main or Women’s Services entrance at MPH.
More than 400 moms-to-be are expected to attend the 2012 educational party that will focus on the latest trends for newborns and expectant parents – from products to health advice and much more. Several new breakout sessions have been added to the day, in addition to previously well-attended sessions.
Trend-setting sessions offered this year will include:
- Charleston Symphony Orchestra and Mozart for Babies
- Night-time Parenting
- What to Expect During Labor and Delivery
- Pets and Babies
- Yoga for Toddlers
- Choosing a Pediatrician
- Pain Management Options During Labor
- Labor Support and Positioning
"Over the years we have celebrated nearly 6,800 new moms at this event," said Laura Celia, director, Womens', Infant's, Childrens' Services. "We're pleased to reach expectant mothers from all over the Lowcountry and introduce them to the facility in Mount Pleasant."
Any expecting mother and her family are welcome to attend. Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital is located at 3500 Highway 17 North.
