Spice up your salad with a topping of fries at Buccas Bar and Grill

I have a confession: I live in Goose Creek (cue the gasps). A city just north of Charleston, Goose Creek is notorious for being the brunt of many jokes. In fact, I’ve spent my adult years enduring jokes about Goose Creek from many of my friends who live on James Island or in Mt. Pleasant and beyond. Honestly, when asked, most of these people have never even been to Goose Creek. Other than being located more north than most places, I’m not sure why my quaint hometown city has become the subject of so many jokes.

I do have to admit that while I was growing up, it was cool to go into Charleston to hit up restaurants and clubs. It was fun to go to Mt. Pleasant to go to the beach, because at that time there wasn’t a whole lot to do in Goose Creek or the surrounding areas. 

However, times have changed. I’ve noticed a younger population moving out to “The Creek” due to the attractive housing market, and with that younger population comes new places of interest. So for all you north area haters, I propose this: Next time you are hesitant to head out this way to hang with your friends, stop and think of all the times they have come to you. Instead of immediately tossing out the trip, open your mind to trying out our new places up here; such as .

Nestled in the BI-LO shopping center at Tanner Plantation, Buccas Bar and Grill offers live music on Friday and Saturday nights, brunch on Sunday mornings, and a plethora of TVs from which you can watch your favorite team while sipping brews (20 - 40’ flat screens to exact but who’s counting?). The menu offers food that is a step up from traditional bar foods, I tend to enjoy the seared tuna steak sandwich with a side salad and a Mich Ultra but that’s just me.
