Break-In at Asian Market Latest Downtown Burglary
Five businesses since March have had glass doors or windows busted out as unknown suspects grab cash and run.

The Asian Pacific International Market is the latest in a string of downtown businesses victimized by unknown suspects smashing the glass front door and heading for the cash drawers.
Police arrived at the shop at 142 St. James Avenue, in the BI-LO shopping center, just before 6 a.m. July 26 to find a familiar scene: The glass front door was shattered.Â
The cash drawer was found on top of a counter at the front of the store, outside of its box, and another cash drawer was left in a chair next to the counter. There was also a filing cabinet with pry marks.

There were also pry marks on the glass front door of the neighboring business, Atlantic Spirits. The owner had video surveillance that showed someone wearing jeans and a black sweater with a hoodie attempting to get into the store at just after 4 a.m. The unknowns suspect tried twice before giving up and heading in the direction of Asian Pacific.

There have been four similar break-ins downtown in recent months. Two days earlier, on July 24, the  early in the morning. With the owner arriving to find the front door busted out, with cash and cigarettes stolen.
In June, a pair of unidentified suspects on St. James Avenue. Using a cell phone as a flashlight, the two busted into a cabinet in the office and also broke into the cash register.
In May, unknown suspects grocery and stole cash from the cash register. And, in March, an unknown suspect used a rock to on St. James. They then tore through the office and fled out the back door.Â
