Cane Bay First Grader Wins Subway Challenge
School receives $1,000 grant in Fresh Start competition.

Wesley Engle is eating better and watching a little less television, and its paying off.
The Cane Bay Elementary first grader was one of two Lowcountry students to win the grand prize in Subway's Fresh Start Challenge.
During the month-long contest, students were encouraged to eat more fruits and vegetables in their meals and snacks and to decrease their "screen time" by 90 minutes.Â

Chosen at random, the winners received a sub party for their class and the school received a $1,000 fitness grant through Subway's Jared Foundation to purchase equipment and education resources.

"I truly hope the healthy habits you showed for the month will continue the rest of the school year and beyond," Subway spokesman Jared Fogle told students in a video message.Â
Last year, Fogle visited Sedgefield Intermediate to reward a fifth grade student for winning the grand prize in the restaurant's "Fit Like A Panther" contest.
