City Approves Carnes Crossroads Street Light Deal

Goose Creek cost will be reimbursed through impact fees.

The Goose Creek City Council has approved spending $27,600 for street lights along North Main Street and St. James Avenue — the .

The Daniel Island Co. will pay 50 percent of the cost for installation and the city's $27,600 will be quickly reimbursed through impact fees, said City Administrator Dennis Harmon.

The company purchased the Carnes Crossroads site six years ago, but a slow down in the economy appeared to have stalled development in recent years.

Now, Carnes Crossroads is expected to soon see work on the first residential and commercial phases. An announcement regarding the development is expected later this spring.

The Daniel Island Co. bought 2,400 acres at Carnes Crossroads in early 2006. In 2008, it sold a large commercial lot on North Main Street for The Market at Carnes Crossroads.
