City to Weigh New Affordable Housing Request
Apartment community goes before zoning board Thursday night.

More affordable housing could be on the way for Goose Creek.
The city’s Zoning Board of Appeals will hear a permit request Thursday evening for a a 60-unit apartment community at 95 Bridgetown Road. The two-and three-bedroom units would cater to families on a limited income.
Planning Director Daniel Ben-Yisrael told City Council earlier this week that the developer has applied for a federal low income housing tax credit.
Mayor Mike Heitzler said he has much less heartburn about this proposed development after the success of Crowfield Greens, a senior affordable housing development that recently opened its doors. “It has been beautifully done,” he said. “It’s built better, in my opinion, than some of the properties around it.”
The zoning board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the municipal center, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd.
