Goose Creek Tweaking Zoning Standards
Handful of changes headlines City Council agenda.

The City of Goose Creek will take a final vote on a handful of changes to its zoning ordnance Tuesday night. Residents are welcome to come out and express their thoughts or concerns during a public hearing on the issue.
Under the proposed amendments:
- Conditional permits will be approved by the Zoning Board of Appeals without a review by the Planning Commission.
- Any changes to a planned unit development would follow the same standards for review as the city’s most restrictive zoning for that purpose. The example the city gives is if a multi-family building was requested in a PUD, it would require a conditional use permit by the zoning board.
- Government or office buildings will be prohibited in certain high-density neighborhoods.
- The city will be allowed to park its vehicles at public facilities overnight — an issue that had come up at the city’s Crowfield Golf and Country Club.
- Commercial farms, nurseries or orchards will require a conditional permit in areas zoned Conservation Open Space. Currently it is an allowed use.
