Coroner Identifies Red Bank Pedestrian Fatality

Goose Creek woman, 65, died early Saturday morning.

The Berkeley County Coroner has released the name of the woman who died after she was hit by a car on Red Bank Road at 12:40 a.m. Saturday morning.

Sally A. McHugh, 65, of Goose Creek, was transported to the Trident Medical Center, but died shortly after her arrival, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

McHugh's death has been ruled an accident with the cause of death listed as blunt force trauma, according to Salisbury.

The driver was not injured and will not face charges. According to the Highway Patrol, McHugh was allegedly illegally in the road.

The accident was investigated by the Coroner's Office and the Highway Patrol.

It was the second pedestrian fatality on Red Bank Road in a week. A Goose Creek man died early Dec. 9 after he was struck by a car.
