County Closing Satellite Offices in Goose Creek
New budget eliminates two positions.

Berkeley County Council approved a $54.8 million budget Monday that will mean some Goose Creek residents will travel to Moncks Corner to pay their tax bills.
The new budget closes the county’s treasurer and auditor offices on N. Goose Creek Boulevard. The county will be leaving two positions unfilled by consolidating services in Moncks Corner.
County Supervisor Dan Davis says the magistrate’s office and Veteran Affairs will still be at the building and other offices might be moved to the site.
“We will look to see if we can utilize that space because we’ve got to pay rent on it,” Davis said. “Right now, we haven’t identified anybody.”
The council voted 5-4 to approve the budget, with Philip Farley, Tim Callanan, Cathy Davis, and Dennis Fish voting against.
