Dambaugh Eliminated in U.S. Girls Championship

Last year's runner-up in the U.S. Girls Junior Championship played strong this year, but was sent home a little earlier.

Goose Creek's Katelyn Dambaugh was eliminated in Thursday morning's Round of 32.

Live 5 News notes the talented Pinewood Prep junior played well.

Dambaugh fought back to all square at the midway point, and even took a brief 1-up lead after birdieing the par-4 11th.

She'll be in Wilmington, N.C., next week for the Wyndham Cup. The Post and Courier also points out the 16-year-old may also have somewhere to be this time next year: The U.S. Girls Junior Tournament is open to girls who have not reached their 18th birthday.
