Dangerous Storms Expected Sunday

Weather Service warns of high winds, lightning.

Update: A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued until 9 p.m. for areas including Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

Initial Report: High temperatures are expected to again bring severe storms to the Lowcountry on Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service is predicting scattered thunderstorms in the area, continuing into the evening.

"A few of the storms could become severe, with the main threat being damaging straight-line winds and deadly cloud to ground lightning," according to the NWS.

The current forecast calls for storms after 2 p.m., with highs near 94 degrees and a heat index at 103 degrees.
