Details on Red Bank Train/Car Collision
Driver charged, first responders searched for passenger that wasn't there.

Police have charged the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Saturday night crash with an Amtrack train. The citation was for stopping on the tracks.
John Arthell Davis, 40, of 440 Indigo Road, was ejected from the Jeep. According to police, he suffered deep lacerations, but was conscious and able to speak with officers early Sunday morning.
The accident near 11:30 p.m. Saturday night led to a four-car pileup at the intersection of Red Bank Road and U.S. 52 and sent three other people to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to the initial police report, witnesses noted that another vehicle had waited through a green light at the nearby intersection, holding up traffic. One witness noted that one of the traffic lights wasn't working.
As one of the drivers in-between the two cars, 19-year-old Ansley Ard told police that she honked frantically to get the driver in front of her to go while the light was green. Ard said the train hit the Jeep and she then saw Davis lying in the road beside her car.

Before he was taken to the hospital, a disoriented Davis told police that there was another person with him before the accident. That led EMS, law enforcement and CSX rail line employees to search up and down the tracks.
Officers later learned that Davis had dropped the man off prior to the accident.
