Details Released in Sangaree Standoff

Deputies: Four homes had multiple bullet holes.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has released details on a more than three-hour standoff in the Sangaree community Tuesday night.

Richard Justin Brewer, 31, is facing charges related to shooting into a dwelling and malicious injury to property.

Deputies were called to 227 Birmingham Drive after Brewer's wife received a text message from him that threatened suicide.

When officers arrived, a neighbor told them that he believed a shot had been fired coming from the home. A deputy noticed a hole in one of the rear windows.

While they called for support, deputies said they heard several shots from inside the home and then heard bullets exiting the home in unknown directions.

Neighboring homes on Birmingham Drive and Coventry Road were evacuated. , reportedly with the use of a Taser. 

Four homes had multiple bullet holes and one bullet hole was found in a truck and another in the hood of a patrol car.
