Update: Local Woman Dies in Monday Morning Wreck

Highway Patrol: Car hit a tree on U.S. 17-A.

A woman died this morning in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 17-A.

Anna Geno, 61, of Goose Creek, was driving her 2003 Mitsubishi south just before 8 a.m. when she ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree near Willow Haven Lane, north of Moncks Corner, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol and Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

She was on her way home after working a 12-hour shift at the Georgetown Hospital, according to Salisbury. She was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Kristin Demmerle.

The death has been ruled accidental and the cause of death is heat and body trauma.
