Driver Fined $997 After Hitting Firemen

Goose Creek woman pleads no contest in 2011 DUI charges.

A Goose Creek woman plead no contest Tuesday to charges of driving under the influence in a October 2011 incident where two firefighters were struck by her car while working at an accident scene.

Jessica Lanier, 26, of Goose Creek, had faced a charge of felony DUI, but Post and Courier's Natalie Caula reports today that prosecutors decided the lesser charge was more fitting.

Christopher Harrison, 32, and Capt. Michael Althoff, 46, were wearing reflective gear as they were crossing St. James Avenue to reach a patrol car when they were struck.
