DSS: Noah's Ark Under Investigation, Can Remain Open

State is monitoring the facility after 2-year-old allegedly hits the road.

Noah’s Ark Kindergarten and Daycare on College Park Road is under investigation, but still able to operate, after a two-year-old allegedly walked out of the facility and off the property Wednesday.

In an interview with The Post and Courier on Friday, Jeanette Jacobs said she was driving down the road when she found the little girl in the middle of the road.

DSS spokeswoman Lenora Reese told Patch that the department's Child Care Licensing Division and the Out of Home Abuse and Neglect Unit are investigating the facility, but she could not confirm details of the case, due to the investigation.

State standards requires that child care facilities supervise children at all times, Reese said. When under investigation for a potential violation, a childcare facility operates under a corrective action plan.

“During this period DSS regulatory staff would make unannounced visits to the facility to ensure all safety regulations and center policies are being followed,” Reese said. “The facility would be expected to follow the plan to immediately address any noted deficiencies.”
