Goose Creek Woman Suspect In I-26 Fatality

Passenger ejected from the vehicle in early-morning accident.

A 20-year-old Goose Creek woman has been charged in the early-morning fatality that closed Interstate 26 for several hours.

Evelyn Freeman has been charged with felony DUI in the 2 a.m. accident, according to Live 5 News. Her passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The Highway Patrol closed westbound I-26 from Remount Road to Ashley Phosphate until 7 a.m. this morning while investigating the accident.

This is the second major rerouting in that stretch of 26. June 20 after a shooting victim's body was found following an accident near Ashley Phosphate.
