Escaped Inmate Search Focused on Sangaree Area
Berkeley County Sheriff's Office works late into the night after sighting.

The search for an escaped inmate from Berkeley County's detention center was focused on the Sangaree community just north of Goose Creek on Wednesday night.
James Sanders, 39, escaped from the Moncks Corner facility Jan. 26. He has been on the run since and it was suspected that he fled the county.Â
But a sighting in the Sangaree area had deputies working into the night to find Sanders.

ABC News 4 noted that the search backed up evening traffic in the area. They talked with Berkeley County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Moon.
"According to the witnesses, he was wearing a gray type of sweatshirt with a hoodie, with a red shirt underneath that and a pair of blue jeans," Moon said. Moon also said authorities themselves later spotted Sanders.

The Post and Courier noted the extensive manhunt for Sanders, arrested in August on domestic violence charges.
A helicopter searched from the sky as vehicles were being checked at Royle Road and Sangaree Parkway Boulevard, and at intersections on North Main Street (U.S. Highway 17A), Moon said.
