On Saturday, January 14, 2012, North Charleston Police Officer David Winslette responded to a call for service, while working night shift, and as a result, was shot in the line of duty. Officer Winslette was shot in the chest and leg by the suspect. Officer Winslette is very fortunate in that he was wearing his protective body armor and his life was spared by this cowardly act. He has a long road to recovery and faces up to a year out of work due to his injuries.
The Fraternal Order of Police, Tri-County Lodge # 3, along with fellow officers are organizing a spaghetti benefit dinner & silent auction at the North Charleston High School Gymnasium. ALL proceeds will go directly to Dave.
