Come take part in a clean-up of Old Santee Park's swamp area. Organized by the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium and Department of Natural Resources, debris removed from the swamp will help pinpoint litter sources and ultimately prevent future pollution. In it's 26th year, the clean-up is in conjunction with the International Coastal Clean-up coordinated by The Ocean Conservancy, and is a part of a world-wide effort to preserve and protect the world's pristine beaches, rivers, lakes and swamps. Pre-registration deadline is Sept. 16, and children under 14 years-old are required to register with an adult. Participants will meet in the park's Interpretive Center, and class size is limited to 30.
