Update: Tornado Watch Issued for Berkeley County

National Weather Services warns of hazardous weather.

Update, 4:35 p.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Berkeley County until midnight.

"A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe weather in and close to the watch area," according to the NWS. "Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions."

First Report: The National Weather Service is warning of severe weather late tonight and into tomorrow morning.

The latest update from the National Weather Service noted a strong cold front will be moving into the area, along with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

"A few of the storms could become severe and produce damaging winds and tornadoes, especially across interior portions of South Carolina." according to the the NWS outlook.

The highest risk for severe weather in the Lowcountry is expected to be this evening and overnight.

The current forecast for the Goose Creek area calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms late tonight and into the morning. Before clearing out on Thursday with a high near 70.
