Hanahan Woman Dies in Wreck Near Summerville
Accident heading west on I-26 near mile marker 197.

One person is dead and another has been injured in an early-morning crash on Interstate 26. The single-vehicle accident happened around 5:39 Thursday morning near mile marker 197.
The passenger in the accident, 64-year-old Judy Pye Godbee of Hanahan, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
A Ford sedan was reportedly traveling west on I-26 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck several trees.

Godbee was wearing a seatbelt. The driver was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina, according to Salisbury.
The accident is under investigation by the S C Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
