Fatality in Moncks Corner Head-On Collision
Authorities say second driver seriously injured.

A driver died in a head-on collision early Saturday in Moncks Corner, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
A sedan was heading north on Highway 52 at 1:30 a.m. in the southbound lane, according to Salisbury, when the car collided head-on with a Chevy S-10 truck.
Angel Chavez Salazar, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner George Oliver. Salazar was driving the sedan.

He died from blunt force trauma to the chest, Salisbury said. A toxicology test will be done to determine if alcohol was a factor. A passenger in the car was not injured.

The driver of the truck, who was not identified by Salisbury, was reportedly flown to the Medical University of South Carolina with serious injuries.Â
The accident is being investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner's Office and the Moncks Corner Police Department.
