A fire Wednesday evening damaged a home at 330 Anita Drive, displacing two people, including one child.
According to Goose Creek Fire Chief Steve Chapman, the fire began after a pan of grease was left unattended on the stove.
There was significant damage around the stove, including cabinets and a nearby window. Heat and smoke damage through the rest of the house has made the home temporary unlivable.

Roughly 16 firefighters worked the scene for about 90 minutes. Chapman notes that the fire was out quickly and most of that time was spent on clean-up.
Chapman warns residents not to keep an eye on the stove when your preparing meals. "Unattended cooking is a major cause of house fires," he said.

The American Red Cross provided money to replace food lost in the fire, as well as kits with emergency supplies, like toiletries. The two are staying with family, according to the Red Cross. The Red Cross noted that it has assisted 78 people since Jan. 1 due to home fires in its seven-county region.
