Five Cars Damaged After Tree Falls on U.S. 52

No reported injuries, but more than $2,000 in damages.

Several cars were damaged over the weekend when a tree along Hwy. 52 broke apart and fell into the roadway.

Officers responded to a call at 7:30 p.m. Saturday near the Woodland Lakes Road entrance off North Goose Creek Boulevard.

Officers noted that it appeared the tree had fallen from natural causes, covering the entire right, northbound lane.

The first victim told police she was driving her vehicle in the lane when she noticed the tree up ahead, but she didn't have time to stop and no space to go around it.

Four other drivers shared their own stories of being unable to avoid the tree.

One drive had a broken windshield wiper. Another reported damage to her bumper and headlights. The other drivers reported scratches. The total cost of the damage is estimated to exceed $2,000.
