Flash Flood Warning in Berkeley County

Weather Service encouraging safety as rain stalls.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for east central Berkeley County until 10:30 p.m., particularly over the Jamestown area.

"The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary," the NWS noted. "Up to 3 inches of rain has fallen in the area since 7 p.m. An additional 1-3 inches of rain can be expected."

Residents are encouraged to avoid driving when water is on the road, because its usually deeper than it appears. Only one foot of water can float a carry. The NWS also noted, "Flooding is the number one weather-related cause of death in the United States."
