Former Moncks Corner Police Officer Charged With Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

A conviction would mean a two to 10 year prison sentence.

A former Moncks Corner police officer has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

On Thursday, SLED agents arrested Robert Carlton Shirer, 44, of 1324 North Highway 17-A Lot 13, Moncks Corner.

Shirer is charged with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor 2nd Degree, a felony. If convicted, he'd face a sentence of between two and 10 years in prison.

The investigation included work by SLED, the S.C. Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Greenwood, Ind., Police Department and the Brevard County, Fla., Sheriff's Department. The case will be prosecuted by the S.C. Attorney General's Office.
