Gator Football: Terry, Evans and Stevens

Players making news in the offseason.

Tramel Terry was one of eight prospects recently picked for The Opening in July.

The Opening is a Nike-sponsored weekend of intense training and coaching for the nation's top high school talent. Terry did a video interview at the Nike Football Training Camp.

"Jerry rice was out there last year — Hall-of-Famers — I just want to be around them and learn," he told ESPN.

They also spoke with quarterback Riley Ferguson (Matthews, N.C.) about some tough throws at the Nike training camp that Terry just rolled with.

One of those passes Ferguson threw into a tight window forced Terry, a fellow four-star prospect, to slide to the turf in order to make the catch. That resulted in a softball-sized strawberry on Terry's right leg.

"It looked pretty nasty," Ferguson said with a sly grin.

As if that wasn't bad enough, Terry dove again just a few minutes later. The spill pushed back the bandage on his leg and reopened the wound.

Goose Creek linebacker DeShawn Evans told PalmettoSports.com that he expects that he'll start hearing from schools soon about offers. He also talked about moving from defensive end to outside linebacker for 2012. "I'm not worried about it at all," he told PalmettoSports.com. "It's still football and I love it."

And Jalen Stevens spoke with Scout.com about an offer from Southern Miss.
