Gators Catch The Wave

The Goose Creek Gators beat Summerville's Green Wave on Friday night, 19-7.

Summerville was heading into the game with two wins under its belt, but a nationally ranked Goose Creek was obviously going to make it tough to reach 3-0.

Of course, the pressure was on the Gators to come out on top after a narrow loss last week.

The first half told the story of a strong Summerville defense wrestling with a persistent Goose Creek offense, with the Gators ahead 3-0 at the half.

Early in the third quarter, the Goose Creek defense forced a touchback, followed by a solid Gator offensive drive scoring the first touchdown of the night, bringing the score to 12-0.

A few penalties against Goose Creek provided enough opportunity and energy for a Summerville touchdown in the fourth quarter, but it was quickly answered with a second and final Goose Creek TD.

The 19-7 win puts the records of both teams at 2-1.
