Gators, Cobras, Hawks in District Title Games Wednesday

Goose Creek, Cane Bay and Hanahan Make Baseball Finals, Hanahan and Stratford also appearing in softball district title games.

Goose Creek High will travel Wednesday to get another crack at Ashley Ridge in the AAAA District 8 championship. The Gators lost to Ashley Ridge last weekend, 6-5. If the Gators win the first game Wednesday, a second game will be played to determine the champion.

Cane Bay hosts Berkeley County in the AAA District 7 championship. Cane Bay beat Berkeley 6-5 in the second round of the tournament, but Berkeley earned a second shot at the District title with a win over Socastee, 4-1.

Hanahan is also playing host on Wednesday in the AA District 5 finale. The Hawks will face a second challenge from Waccamaw. The Horry County school lost to Hanahan 10-2 in the second round of the tournament, but beat out Barnwell, 4-3, for a shot at the championship.

Hanahan's softball team will welcome Waccamaw for the AA District 6 championship. Waccamaw lost to Hanahan 10-1 earlier in the tournament.

The Stratford softball team travels to White Knoll on Wednesday for the AAAA District 5 tournament championship. After losing 7-0 to White Knoll earlier in the tournament, Stratford will have to win the first game Wednesday to force a second, deciding game.

Goose Creek lost to South Florence, 3-1. The ladies finished third in the AAAA District 8 tournament. Cane Bay lost to Bluftton, 4-1, finishing third in the AAA District 7 tournament.
