GCPD Accreditation Forum Monday Night

It's time for the Goose Creek Police Department to renew its accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, and they'd like your input.

The voluntary assessment is a prized recognition for local law enforcement. Factors in the review include policies, management, and operations.

A public information session will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 29 at the municipal courthouse, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd. Input can also be provided by phone from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 29 by calling 843-863-5224.

Comments must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Goose Creek Police Department.

Written comments about the Goose Creek Police Department’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation can be sent to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies at 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Va., 20155.

The Goose Creek Police Department has to comply with over 400 standards in order to gain accredited status. Once the CALEA Assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is granted accredited status.
