Get Your “Divine Nature” On When Dealing With Tricky Things And People

2 Peter 1:2-8

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;  seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.  For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature.  Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge; and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness; and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This day, God has a message for you: “Let your ‘Divine Nature’ shine!”  The Divine

Nature is Bible-speak for “God in Action.”  The Divine Nature is made up of all the “God-like” qualities that others see coming out of you, because you have God and consequently His power and love inside of you.  The qualities of the Divine Nature are kindness, goodness, self-control, perseverance, and most of all love.  The really neat thing about being absorbed in letting your Divine Nature shine is that not only are others benefiting from your Divine Nature but when you are focused on demonstrating qualities of God by your actions, there is no room for fear and uncertainty.  No matter what or who your issue is, you can always, always make things better by letting God’s Divine Nature shine through you.  And the ironic part of all that Divine Nature shining, is that as you are absorbed or concentrating on what you can control, which is what you choose to show to the outside world, the better chance you have of actually changing that which is tricky for you, because you will be acting in the best possible way, so you will get the best possible consequence and then you really will feel better.  The realization that you have God’s Divine Nature inside of you is also powerful medicine when there is something in your life that you are fearful of.  One of God’s “precious and magnificent promises” is that, when you call on Him, He hears you and will “deliver you” and soothe your fear (Psalm 34:10).  At this very moment God may not choose to remove or change the tricky thing in your world, but once you are assured that “it” won’t “get” you in the end, your fear will gradually go away.  It’s like a sore that hurts a lot at first, but eventually heals.  The trick is to always be mindful and tell others that the reason your fear left you, or something got better, or you have any joy, success, or fabulousness in your life, is because of God.  Then others will learn from that and follow your example.  They will release the Divine Nature that is inside of them.  And what a better world it would be for us all, which of course was God’s plan all along.
