Goose Creek Man Arrested for Car Break-ins
Charleston police charge local man in Sunday incidents.

Release, Charleston Police Department:
Charleston Police arrested a Goose Creek man Sunday after he broke into vehicles on Smith Street and Calhoun Street.
Rashaad Huger, 30, of Pine Shadow Drive, Goose Creek, is charged with two counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, property crime enhancement and giving false information to the police. Huger, who is on probation for bank fraud, was being held in the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police dispatch received a telephone call from a citizen who said that someone was breaking into a vehicle on Smith Street. The caller provided the dispatcher with a description of the suspect.Â
Officers responding to the area saw a man matching the suspect’s description on Duncan Street. Initially, the man provided the officers with a false name, but eventually provided them with his correct name.Â

The citizen who called the police about the car break-in was brought to the scene and he identified the man as the individual who had broken into the vehicle on Smith Street.
The suspect had in his possession items taken from the vehicle on Smith Street. He also had in his possession items taken from a vehicle on Calhoun Street. The officers were able to contact the victim from Calhoun Street and return the stolen items to her.
The investigation is ongoing.
