Goose Creek Man Sentenced on Drug and Weapons Charges
Defendant sentenced to 131 months in prison.

Release, U.S. Attorney's Office:
Columbia, South Carolina ---- United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated today that Derrick Lamont Gray, age 35, of Goose Creek was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Charleston for being a felon in possession of firearm, possessing with intent to distribute cocaine, and possessing a weapon in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. United States District Judge Richard M. Gergel sentenced Gray to 131 months imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that on December 17, 2010, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Gray’s residence after previously making an undercover drug purchase from Gray at the residence. Inside the residence, deputies seized approximately 13 grams of cocaine and a loaded .45 caliber handgun.

Mr. Nettles stated that the case was investigated by agents of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Nick Bianchi of the Charleston office handled the case.
