Goose Creek Native to Lead Pittsburgh Food Bank
Lowcountry Food Bank's Jermaine Husser is heading north for new position.

Jermaine Husser, executive director of the Lowcountry Food Bank, is leaving the post to lead the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Husser has managed the LFB since 2005 and he’s been with the nonprofit since 1997. He’ll become the Pennsylvania food bank’s new CEO on Aug. 1.
"My family and I are elated to be joining the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank family," Husser said in a statement released by the food bank. "We have enjoyed Pittsburgh's hospitality and hope to repay it by working together with the board, staff, volunteers, elected officials and community to continue to seek innovative ways to end hunger in southwestern Pennsylvania."
Husser was also a Republican Primary candidate last year to fill the open House District 117 seat representing Goose Creek. The seat was vacated by then-Congressional candidate Tim Scott. Husser lost the primary race to Bill Crosby.
Matthew Swider, board president at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, praised Husser as a national advocate for food banks. "His experience, understanding of community needs and passion for his work distinguished him among the highly qualified candidates for the position,” Swider said in a statement
LFB Board Chairman Mark Smith praised Husser and said the search committee hopes to have a new executive director by the fall. "Jermaine has a strong leadership team in place that will continue the exemplary work of distributing food to families in our area," Smith said.
