Gunn: Bob Call Refuses to Debate
"I get the impression that Mr. Call does not want to debate the issues because of his voting record."

By Ken Gunn, GOP Primary candidate for Berkeley County Council District 3
From day one I have attempted to engage Mr. Call in a discussion with regard to the issues that are of concern to the citizens of District 3. I requested the Berkeley County GOP hold a debate and on three occasions Mr. Call was invited. On two occasions he replied by email “NO” and did not respond to the third request. Trident Hospital invited Mr. Call and me to a lunch discussion. I responded yes. Mr. Call did not respond so the hospital contacted him a second time. Again he did not respond so they canceled.
I have been informed that Mr. Call has stated he is too busy with campaign issues, meetings and fund raisers. Well, I am busy too but I can make arrangements easily enough to match his schedule so I issued an open ended request of “anywhere at any time”. No response has been received and as the election draws near, there are few days left to hold a debate.

I’m just making a guess here, but I get the impression that Mr. Call does not want to debate the issues because of his voting record. To be honest, if I were him I wouldn’t want to either. However, in my opinion, this is a disservice to the citizens of Berkeley County District 3. It is customary to have debates in an election. How else do voters form an opinion on who to vote for?
This may be a small election, but there are some significant issues involved for Berkeley County citizens. Mr. Call doesn’t care to discuss them though.
