Haley to Nexans: "We're Invested in You."
Cable manufacturer celebrated Wednesday for Berkeley investment.

Gov. Nikki Haley welcomed Nexans to South Carolina on Wednesday, pledging support for the cable manufacturer as it begins work on a new Berkeley County facility.
The S.C. Commerce Department announced in March that Nexans had for an $85 million plant expected to employ up to 200.
The event Wednesday was intended to recognize the company's investment. According to The Berkeley Independent, Haley told Nexans that the state will have skilled workers ready to begin work when the facility opens in 2014.

The local site will manufacture high-voltage power cables, with a possible future extension to submarine cable production, according to the South Carolina Commerce Department.

A $1.6 million rural infrastructure grant through the Coordinating Council for Economic Development will allow the county to help with site preparation and infrastructure improvements. Job development credits will also be available when hiring targets are met, according to the Commerce Department.
